We wish a warm welcome to our new Summer 2019 Interns!
My name is Leslie Wang, a 24-year-old master student studying Health Education and Health Communication at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. I started my internship at NAMI Metro Baltimore recently and will continue working here for 6 months. In my spare time, I enjoy jogging and I am aiming for a half-marathon. I also love traveling and photography. The most memorable place I have been to was Alaska because of the beautiful aurora and the terrifyingly freezing cold. I want to work for NAMI because its fight against mental health stigma really resonates with me. I understand how frustrating it is when surrounding people do not understand how those with mental health conditions feel, so I want to join NAMI to make some positive changes. Via this internship, I hope to learn how to effectively enhance people’s awareness and understanding of the importance of mental health and actually provide strong support to people.
My name is Dominique Wright, I am 19 years old. I currently major in psychology and minor in human development at the University of Maryland, College Park. In my down time, I enjoy making and selling jewelry and binge watching shows. I began my internship at NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore at the beginning of the summer in hopes of exploring more about mental illness. Being a psychology major, I value being a service to others. It pleases me knowing that I can play a small part in changing a person’s life in some way. While being in this internship, I hope to gain more knowledge about mental illness so that I can decide what path to take in the field of psychology once I graduate.
