The statistic is staggering: Suicide is the second leading cause of death among U.S. youths between 10 and 14 years old. It’s the third leading cause of death among those between the ages of 15 and 24.

September is Suicide Prevention and Recovery Awareness Month. Clarissa Taylor-Jackson, the director of programs and outreach at NAMI Metro Baltimore, explains how mental health experts are stressing the importance of the month and raising awareness to help those in need.
